So this weekend we played a show at Fuse Festival in Pawtucket RI. The day started out normal, we got to sound check on time and things seemed to be moving according to plan. However, a few minutes later, we knew things where going a little bit out of the ordinary. There was no power to the stage. The Fuse Fest crew worked as hard as they could to try and solve the problem, but nothing seemed to work. In the end, we all had to play an acoustic set. Now for some, you may think it was a huge letdown, but things could not have turned out better. Please take the time to read this email sent to one fuse fest’s managers Brian. He forwarded it to every artist involved in the event and I feel like it would be an uplifting and encouraging message for you as well!
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” – James 1: 2-4

“Brian,

Thank you so much for allowing my family and I to be part of Fuse Festival 2011!!!  With that said, it was impossible not to see the turmoil on your face as you negotiated every “obstacle” thrown your way.

But if I might interject something you should know, beside the fact that the show still went on,,,,    that is that what happened today moved me.

I will certainly write some formal words Brian, that sum up the day in an appropriate and journalistic fashion, and which praise your efforts and those of your truly Christian volunteers and performers. But I thought you should know something else.

I have been teetering on the edge of “understanding” since my wife brought my hardened heart to her church some three years ago, and this weekend has affected me in ways I cannot explain except to say that “it feels good”.

It started with a simple and inspiring movie at a “church pot luck dinner”, and culminated with “Fuse Festival” and the “faith effort” that went into what might have been much worse but not for the monumental  efforts of yourself, your crew and some “dedicated” Christian musicians. You should also know that my wife and I heard not one complaint or other disparaging word regarding the show, not one…

Thank you for helping me on my “journey” and be assured that I will do everything I can now to help you on yours…

Great, and I mean great effort..!”

It goes to show you that things are never as they seem. You may thing something is bad and at its end, but hold on. Let the storm pass, let it clear and you will see the beautiful outcome!
